HSD is a kind of distillate fuel used for machinery "compression ignition" (on a diesel engine, air is compressed on the induction step, compressed air generates pressure and high heat that could burn diesel fuel and sprayed by the injector) which fuel quality is indicated by cetane number. Higher cetane number indicates that more flammable, and vice versa.

The use of HSD in general is for fuel in all types of diesel engines with high rotation (above 1000 RPM), which can also be used as fuel in direct combustion in small industry, which is especially desirable, clean burning. This type of diesel is also called Gas Oil , Automotive Diesel Oil or High Speed Diesel.

MDF is a type of fuel distillate fractions containing heavy fractions or a mixture of light and heavy fraction (residual fuel oil) and a dark black color, but remain liqiud at low temperatures.

The use of diesel oil in general is for diesel engines fuel with moderate or slow rotation (300 to 1000 RPM) or can also be used as fuel for direct combustion in industrial. Diesel oil is commonly referred to as Industrial Diesel Oil or Marine Diesel Fuel

MFO is fuel which not oil from the residue and distillate, but kind of dark black. MFO is more viscous than petroleum diesel and has a higher pour point that diesel oil.

The use of fuel oil in general for the direct combustion of fuel in large fired power plants industry and other which are very concerned about the economis aspects of fuel. Fuel oil is commonly referred to as Marine Fuel Oil (MFO).
